Ingredients of Falafal

  1. It’s 1 Cup of Soaked chickpeas (240 ml Cup).

  16. You need 2 tbsp of Boiled chickpeas.

Hi Kate, I am anxious to try these as I have always made my falafal with canned chickpeas.I guess I don't see the difference if you are soaking the chickpeas anyway and softening them.I don't know how authentic this recipe is but it is my favorite.I never eat falafal but this looks very tasty. will definitely try to make this wonderful recipe.

Falafal instructions

  1. Keep all the ingredients ready.soak chickpeas overnight or 7-8 hours.strain water from Soaked chickpeas.Take a mixi jar.Add chickpeas, garlic,onion,Coriander and little water.Add water gradually as required.Coarsely grind the mixture.Transfer it into a mixing bowl..
  2. Now add Black Sesame seeds, Cumin seeds,salt, baking soda,black pepper powder and coriander powder.Mix well everything..
  3. Heat oil in a wok.Meanwhile make round shaped tikkis,coat them with plain refined flour and deep fry them on low to medium flame till golden brown.Put on absorbent paper to remove extra oil..
  4. To make Hummus,take 2 tbsp boiled chickpeas in a mixi jar,add 2 tbsp olive oil,salt to taste,2 tsp Sesame seeds,3 Cloves garlic.grind into fine paste.If needed oil is to be added not water.Transfer into a bowl and set in fridge for 30 minutes..
  5. Serve the hot, tasty falafal with tomato ketchup and Hummus..
