Palak Chole is nothing but Chickpeas cooked with spinach in spicy gravy. Chickpeas are a great source of protein for vegetarians and spinach is a storehouse of iron.

Ingredients of Palak Chole

  1. Prepare 250 gm of Spinach.
  2. It’s 1 cup of white chickpeas (5-6 hrs soaked).
  3. You need 1 of onion finely chopped.
  4. You need 1 of tomato finely chopped.
  5. It’s 2 of green chilli/ dry red chilli.
  6. Make ready 1 inch of ginger grated.
  7. You need 4 of garlic cloves grated.
  8. Make ready 1/2 TSP of cumin seeds.
  9. Make ready 2 TSP of lemon juice.
  10. Take As needed of Oil / ghee.
  11. You need As needed of Water.
  12. You need 1 tsp of pasta Powder masala.
  13. It’s to taste of Salt.
  14. You need 1 TSP of garam masala.
  15. It’s 1 TSP of coriander powder.
  16. You need 1 TSP of cumin Powder.
  17. It’s 1/2 TSP of black pepper powder.
  18. Prepare 1/2 TSP of red chilli powder.

Palak Chole step by step

  1. First, blanch the spinach leaves and then make puree. Then Wash already soaked chickpeas and boil it for 4-5 minutes in pressure cooker..
  2. Heat 3 teaspoon of oil/ghee in a pan, now add cumin seeds and red/green chilli. Saute for 1 minute. Now add in chopped onion, Ginger-garlic and saute over medium flame untill onion turn light brown colour..
  3. Then add chopped tomato, salt & all powder masalas and stir all once. Cook for 2 minutes in medium flame & you can see the mixture coming together and thickening a little bit..
  4. Now, add the chickpeas & give it a good stir and cook it for 3-4 minutes. Then add in spinach puree, give it one good stir & cook it for 5 minutes in low-medium flame..
  5. After 5 minutes, you can see palak gravy thicken little bit. Add lemon juice, Off the gas flame and stir it. Check the salt & spice levels & adjust to suit your taste. Tasty Palak-chhole is ready to eat. Serve the yummy Palak-chhole along with a choice of rice or rotis..
