- You need 1 cup of rice.
- Make ready 1 1/2 cups of water or broth.
- You need 1 tbsp of finely chopped onion.
- Make ready 2 of bay leaves.
- Make ready 4 of green cardamoms.
- Prepare 1/2 of cinnamon stick.
- Prepare 1 tbsp of raisins.
- Take 1/4 cup of almonds.
- It’s 1/4 cup of cashews.
- Take 2 tbsp of cooking oil or olive.

- On a medium low heat stove, using a small pan, heat the oil and put the bay leaf, cinnamon stick and cardamom in. Cook for about 1 minute..
- Add the onions, and cook until they are translucent. Then add the nuts. Cook for about 3 minutes then set aside. Be careful not to burn the onions..
- If you are using a rice cooker or stove, on medium heat, bring to a boil the 1 1/2 cups of water or broth, and then add the rice and salt to taste. Bring the heat down to medium low, stir and let it cook for 2 - 3 minutes Add the nut & raisin mix with 1/2 tspn of sugar. Let it cook until rice is tender & all water is absorbed.
