Ingredients of Amaranth leaves dal

  1. Prepare 1big bowl of Amaranth leaves.
  2. It’s 1 cup of Toor dal.
  3. Prepare 1 tsp of Chana dal.
  4. Make ready 1 tsp of Hyacinth dal.
  5. You need 1 tbsp of Red toordal.
  6. Prepare 1 tsp of Moong dal.
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp of Turmeric.
  8. It’s 2 of Onion (chop big pcs, 1for cooking, 1for grinding).
  9. It’s 5 pods of Garlic.
  10. Take 2 of Tomatoes Medium pcs chopped.
  11. It’s 1 cup of Grated fresh coconut.
  12. Prepare 10 of Red chilli.
  13. Make ready 10 of Byadgi chilli.
  14. It’s 2 tsp of Sambar powder.
  15. Take 1/2 cup of Tamarind pulp.
  16. You need as per taste of Jaggery.
  17. Make ready as per taste of Salt.
  18. You need 1 ltr of Water.
  19. You need 20 of Curry leaves.
  20. Make ready 1/2 tsp of Mustard.
  21. It’s 1 tsp of Oil or ghee.

Take the amaranth leaves with toor dal, onion, green chille and tomato to a pressure cooker.Cook until soft and finally do the tempering.It can't get any simpler than this.I made this dish with thotakura/ amaranth greens that I harvested from my little container garden, took pictures and after a very emotional and whirlwind India trip completely forgot about it.

  5. Take a pan, add oil, mustard, curryleaves and pour this to daal, mix well and serve with chapattis, roti or rice or ragi ball..
