Ingredients of Panchmail Dal

  1. Prepare 2 tbsp of chana dal.
  2. You need 2 tbsp of moong dal.
  3. You need 2 tbsp of tuar dal.
  4. It’s 2 tbsp of urad dal.
  5. It’s 2 tbsp of masor dal.
  6. Take 2 of onion finely chopped.
  7. Take 2 of tomato grated.
  8. It’s 1 of tomato chopped.
  9. Take 1 tbsp of finger+garlic+green chilli (minced).
  10. It’s 2-3 tbsp of oil.
  11. You need 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
  12. Prepare 1/2 tsp of garam masala powder.
  13. Take pinch of hing.
  14. You need 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder or to taste.
  15. You need 1 tsp of coriander powder.
  16. Make ready 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
  17. Prepare to taste of salt.
  18. You need handful of fresh coriander.
  19. Prepare 1/2 of lemon (juice).
  20. It’s of for tempering -.
  21. Take 1 tbsp of ghee.
  22. You need 1/4 tsp of kashmiri red chilli powder.
  23. Prepare 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds.
  24. Make ready 1 of bay leaf.
  25. Make ready 2 of whole red dry chilli.

Panchmail Dal step by step

  1. First wash and soak all lentils for atleast half and hour.add soaked lentils in a pressure cooker along with as required water, salt and turmeric powder and cook for 2-3 whistle..
  2. Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, garam masala powder and hing,then add chopped onion and cook for few mins on medium flame until light golden..
  3. Now add ginger+garlic +green chilli paste, stir for a min..
  4. Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt and red chilli powder, mix well, then add grated tomatoes, stir and cook for few minutes until oil release..
  5. Now add chopped tomatoes stir well and cook for another minute..
  6. Add cooked lentils and mix well.add as required water and cook for 3-4 mins..
  7. Next - in a tempring pan heat ghee, then add bay leaf, whole red dry chillies,cumin seeds and kashmiri red chilli powder, quickly add the tempering into the prepared dal and cover for a min.lastly add fresh coriander and lemon juice and mix..
  8. Delicious panchratna / panchmail dal is ready to serve..
