  6. It’s Pinch of asafoetida.
  7. It’s As needed of Desi ghee.
  8. You need 1/2 tbsp of cumin seeds.
  9. Prepare 1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder.
  10. You need 1 tbsp of Red chilli powder.
  11. Make ready As needed of Water.
  12. It’s As needed of Coriander for garnish.

Keep the remaining corriander leaves for garnishing.Add salt, ginger and garlic paste.Add the washed, drained rice and chopped tomatoes.Masala Khichdi is a spicy variation of simple khichdi.

Toor dal and rice khichdi step by step

  1. In a bowl mix Rice and Dal and wash, changing water several times until the water  appears clear and then soak the dal and rice in water for 45 minutes. Once Dal and Rice are soaked, carefully pour out the soaking water and wash  the rice and dal in several changes of water, until water runs clear. Keep them aside..
  2. In a pressure cooker heat the oil, add cumin seeds and asafetida and fry them  for 2 to 3 minutes or until they become brown. Now, add the onion when they till golden brown and add tomato, green chilli, turmeric powder, red chilli Powder, water and Salt to taste. Mix well them..
