I have divided the dal pakwan post in two parts as I am sharing step by step pictures for making pakwan as well as the dal. I have already posted Pakwan step by step recipe. in this post, I will share how to make dal.

Ingredients of Dal Pakwan

  1. You need 2 cups of refined flour.
  2. Prepare 2 tbsp of wheat flour.
  3. Make ready 1 teaspoon of jeera.
  4. You need 1 teaspoon of carom seeds.
  5. You need As needed of oil for frying.
  6. You need 2 tablespoons of ghee.
  7. Take As needed of salt.
  8. Make ready As needed of water.
  9. It’s 1 of small bowl chanadal spilt chick peas soaked in water.
  10. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric powder.
  11. Make ready 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder.
  12. It’s 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper powder.
  13. It’s 2 of chopped onions.
  14. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of hing.
  15. Take 1 of chopped tomato.
  16. It’s 2 teaspoons of jeera - dhaniya powder.
  17. Make ready 1 teaspoon of crushed ginger.
  18. It’s Few of curry pata.
  19. Make ready 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder.

Dal Pakwan instructions

  1. Take a bowl put refined flour & wheat flour add the ghee, salt jeera, carrom seeds mix well, add water to the bowl little by little and mix make a slightly tight dough spread oil and cover it.
  2. Rest for twenty minutes, after that remove it and mix the dough again, make balls from the dough and roll it and poke by the fork and keep aside..
  3. Put oil in the pan deep fry all pakwan until the colour is red&crispy.
  4. Dal_ first soaked Chana dal for two hours in water then boiled in pressure cooker with adding turmeric powder, red chilli powder salt give one whistle and wait for pressure goes naturally from the pressure cooker,.
  5. Now heat the pan add oil, then jeera, hing, curry pata fry lightly add chopped onions, saute add boiled chana dal mix well add jeera and dhaniya add ginger add garam masala powder mix well now add garam masala powder mix all and saute it until the dal is nicely cooked, tasty dal pakwan is ready..

Here pakwan is similar to crispy, fried puri or papdi.While the dal is made from chana dal with very minimal spices.The dal is topped with green chutney, tamarind date chutney and chopped onion.
