Ingredients of Sambar (without dal)

  1. You need 250 grams of boiled Shakarkandi(Sweet potato).
  2. Make ready 1 of medium cup freshly grated coconut.
  3. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of of roasted methi seeds(fenugreek seeds).
  4. Prepare 1 table spoon of grated gud(jaggery).
  5. Make ready 1 teaspoon of rai (mustard).

  7. Make ready as per taste of Salt.
  8. Make ready 2 pinches of hing(asefetoda).
  9. You need 1 tea spoon of ghee.
  10. Take 1/4 teaspoon of of haldi(turmeric).
  11. Take 1/4 teaspoon of of jeera.(cumin seeds).
  12. You need 1small cup of of curry leaves and daniya (coriander leaves).
  13. It’s 2 tablespoons of of imli pulp(tamarind pulp).

The recipe does not need a sambar powder too.Sambar without Dal Sambar is prepared by using various lentils like Toor Dal, Moong Dal, Channa Dal etc., Today let us learn easy method of preparing Sambar without using Toor Dal which is consumed along with Idli.Kadamba Sambar, one of the traditional sambar we make for many festivals and auspicious occasions.This is a no onion no garlic sambar.

  1. In a blender, grind coconut, dry roasted methi seeds, red chillies, turmeric and half a teaspoon of mustard. Make a fine paste adding water..
  2. Heat a pan. Add ghee. Once ghee is hot, add mustard seeds jeera and hing. Then add the boiled sweet potatoes. Add tamarind pulp and cook it for five minutes. Then add the above paste. Add water accordingly.Add jaggery and salt according to taste. Cook it for about 10 minutes. Add curry leaves and dhaniya leaves.Switch off the flame..
  3. You can serve it with rice, rotis, chapathis, idli and dosa. Good for winters..

It taste just as good as normal sambar which you make.This sambar is an instant recipe which goes well with breakfast like idli, dosa or idiyappam.The sambar is prepared using onions and tomatoes and no tamarind is used here.

The choice of the vegetables is the main secret of this sambar.The grinding ingredients are same as Arachuvita sambar but the veggies really enhances flavor and taste.The sambar powder is enhanced by fenugreek seeds but doesn't feature jeera.You could make a sambar without sambar powder but it's a slightly laborious process.The arachuvitta (freshly ground) sambar with freshly ground ingredients like coconut and coriander seeds is a great option on a weekend and is a classic recipe.
