Ingredients of Labneh Toast
- Take (A) For of the Labneh:.
- You need 500 grams of Yogurt.
- You need 1.5 of Teaspoon/As per taste Salt.
- It’s As required of EVOO/Olive oil.
- Prepare As required of Za’atar.
- It’s As per taste of Black pepper powder (preferably freshly milled or pounded).
- You need (B) For of the Toasts/Toppings:.
- You need 6 slices of Bread (I used Rye Bread).
- Prepare 1/2 of English Cucumber (Unpeeled, Diced).
- Prepare 1 of Tomato Medium (Deseeded, Diced).
- You need 2 of Avocados (Peeled, Sliced).
- Prepare 1 of Jalapeño (Sliced).
- Make ready A few of Mint leaves (Chopped roughly).
Labneh is a popular Middle Eastern soft cheese made from strained yogurt.Labneh pairs equally well with sweet and savory flavors, and it makes a cooling accompaniment to spicy dishes as well.Top the toasts with whipped labneh spread.To say that cucumber is a staple in our Greek kitchen would be a huge understatement.
Labneh Toast instructions
- (A) For the Labneh:.
- Line a colander with a muslin cloth/cheese cloth/large handkerchief. Place the colander over a mixing bowl..
- Add salt to the yogurt. Stir gently.
Pour the yogurt in the colander..
- Refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
Make sure the colander doesn’t touch the whey/bottom of the bowl..
- After 24 hours, squeeze out any remaining whey very gently..
- The thick yogurt should resemble cream cheese..
- Refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to use..
- (B) To Assemble:.
- Toast the bread slices in the Toaster on medium setting. (Do not make it too crisp)..
- Place on plates lined with paper napkins..
- Add generous dollops of the Labneh on top of the toasts with the help of a tablespoon. (Do not spread the Labneh)..
- Arrange the above toppings as per your liking.
Sprinkle the Za’atar & pepper powder as per taste.
Drizzle olive oil on top..
- Serve immediately.
